Image of Bolton cinema box office. Image courtesy of the Bolton NewsIt is not just bricks and mortar that make a building but the people who work, socialise and live in them.

Buildings are not important just because of their architecture.

Memories are attached to places because of the meanings that people link to them. Places can be brought alive by an event or meeting.

Our memories of places relate to the people we associate with there and the experiences that we share; a first kiss, meeting up with friends, enjoying a meal or a performance.

Everyone has their favourite haunts. Where is yours?

"The downstairs was the clock room at the Palais and that had absolutely gorgeous pale turquoise blue couches and like a bucket type chair and it was beautifully carpeted and you had all these coaches and chairs as you were walking down with mirrors all down the side with little lights over every mirror."

"…As a young teenager, walkin’ to the Palais, er you just felt like a princess, particularly on a Saturday when you had got your new shoes on and er, you felt like something really special."
