What was it like to live in Bolton in the past? This part of the exhibition looks at locality, pride and community. Living in close-knit communities had its advantages and disadvantages.
Working class families struggled to remain respectable poor. Most people were very proud of their homes and worked hard to keep up standards in the street. Those who didn’t were looked down upon.
