Young Roots school project discovering wildlife heritage
Bolton Museum and Archive Service is working in partnership with the Lancashire Wildlife Trust and a group of young people from Withins School in Bolton on a project called Young Roots.
The aim of the project is to find out about the built and wildlife heritage of Seven Acres and to show its importance to the community.
Seven Acres is a valley between Bury Road and Thicketford Road in Bolton and it was once a hive of industry. The area is now a country park and local nature reserve.
The young people have recently visited Bolton Museum, Aquarium and Archive to examine historic maps of the area and artefacts from the bleaching works.
