Creative people who live, work or study in Bolton are being urged to get their paint brushes at the ready for an Open Art Exhibition.
The exhibition at Bolton Museum, Aquarium and Archive offers artists the opportunity to exhibit their work with the chance of winning a cash prize.
Paintings will be selected by a panel of three guest judges and will go on display to the public from November 28 until January 23.
There will be prizes for the top three works of art and a special Visitors’ Choice award, as voted by the public.
Artists must be aged 16 or over to submit entries and may enter a maximum of two works.
Work may be in any visual arts medium, except installations, performance or work requiring electricity.
The judging panel includes Stephen Whittle, museum manager of Gallery Oldham, Tabitha Kyoko Moses, an artist based in Liverpool and Kelda Savage, the crafts programme officer for Manchester Craft and Design Centre.
First prize will be £500, sponsored by Bolton Community College, second prize will be £200, sponsored by the University of Bolton and third prize will be £100, sponsored by the University of Bolton. The sponsor of the Visitors’ Choice award will be Sainsbury’s.
Entry fee is £5 per work (£2 concessions) and is payable at the time of submission. Submissions must be made between 10am and 4.30pm on November 13 and 14 and there are strict entry requirements.
