Young people from St Mary’s RC Primary School and St Joseph’s RC High School have been working on the exhibition as part of the Their Past, Your Future (Phase Two Programme), which is delivered by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) and funded by the Big Lottery Fund.

Working alongside Bolton’s library and museum service, the young people have been exploring conflict, peace and citizenship linked to the Second World War.

Pupils from St Mary’s worked with interactive poetry group, Just Poets, and rhythm and music team Rhythmweave to create a piece of performance poetry, while St Joseph’s pupils underwent oral history training in order to help them interview residents from a sheltered housing scheme in Horwich.

The results of their hard work will be shown in the Positive Futures exhibition which will initially go on display at the museum and then feature at certain libraries in the borough.

The exhibition includes poetry, art work, interviews, 3D models and a DVD.

It will be opened on Friday, March 19 by the Mayor of Bolton, Councillor Norman Critchley, and runs until Wednesday, March 24, before touring Horwich, Farnworth and Westhoughton libraries.

Photo opportunity:

Exhibition launch on Friday, March 19 at 10.30am, featuring pupils from both schools and the Mayor of Bolton, Councillor Norman Critchley.
